U-Drive Screws (Hammer Drive Screws)

U-drive self-tapping screws, also known as hammer drive screws, are often used for attaching nameplates in castings and for sealing drain holes in corrosion proofing tubular structures. They are more comparable to nails than screws as the head is not slotted or recessed and they are driven into mating parts with a mallet or hammer for a quick and permanent assembly.

Main Features

  1. Unslotted Round Head
  2. Multiple start threads with a large helical angle
  3. Unthreaded pilot point
  4. Not intended to be removed after installation

Key Considerations When Considering U-Drive Screws:

  1. Must be harder than mating part
  2. Pre-drilled pilot hole required
  3. No tapping required
  4. For permanent assemblies
  5. Sufficient space for installation with a mallet or hammer
